The Big Draw 10.X - 11.X 2013
|
The Big Draw was a workshop organised by the community arts organisation Head for Arts in partnership with Blaenau Gwent's Arts Service and our gallery, as part of a national event promoting drawing amongst children and adults alike. Over two days, the participants had the chance to try different drawing materials and techniques with the support of a professional illustrator. We had crowds of visitors ranging in age between a year and 80, and they all enjoyed this favourite childhood past-time, which is sadly often forgotten in adult life. The theme of this year's event was drawing the future and it inspired a variety of stories and ideas - the participants could draw what they'd like to see or send to the future in time capsules. After the completed workshops everyone was invited to put their drawings up on our gallery walls (as well as the windows and ceiling, on request), interacting with the exhibition on display. This gave everyone a lot of joy and, we also hope, confidence, in being exhibited in an art space. |
